No, there are some very different approaches. What matters is that you find someone who’s approach is well suited to your needs, and personal preferences. Don’t feel shy to ask questions up front, or even to call 2/3 psychologists before making an appointment with one of them. I also feel it’s usually a good idea to make just one appointment, and then decide from there whether you feel comfortable enough with that person.
Personally, my style of work is somewhat eclectic, but with an emphasis on shorter-term, practical and solution-focused approaches.
